Acer Laptops

Acer Aspire 5020

SUCCESSFUL Running PowerPack CD x86_64 on Acer Aspire 5020; AMD Turion 64 ML 34 1.8GHz 1GB Ram 100GB HD Broadcom 4318 802.11bg I fixed my DSDT to work although Ineed to complete the fix for the battery acpi.sourceforge.net

Download Driver from ACER Europe FTP site Use NDisWrapper VIA THE Configure Your System It will automatically configure. but in the 502x won't turn it on until you indicate the wireless button was pressed, which keystroke, of course, linux won't recognize, SO, follow-up with Mark Smith's Acer_ACPI Download Acer_acpi from Download acer_acpi-0.3.tar.gz

Extract and build the sources:

tar zxvf acer_acpi-0.3.tar.gz

cd acer_acpi-0.3

make

If the compile is successful, as root:

make install

modprobe acer_acpi (possibly twice)

echo "enabled : 1" > /proc/acpi/acer/wireless

http://archernar.co.uk/acer_acpi/acer_acpi_main.html link doesn't show ;-(

Make SURE to use the 64-bit driver from ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_3020_5020/driver/winxp64bit

Acer Aspire 5002

SUCCESSFUL Running PowerPack CD x86_64 on Acer Aspire 5002; AMD Turion 64 ML 30 1.6GHz 512GB Ram 80GB HD Broadcom 4318 802.11bg DSDT needs to be fixed for battery to work

Make SURE to use the 64-bit driver from 5020 model ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_3020_5020/driver/winxp64bit Does not require acer-acpi for wireless to work ;-)

Acer Travelmate 8100 Series

SUCCESSFUL Running Mandriva 2006 December Club Edition on an Acer Travelmate 8103 in the right resolution of 1680x1050 with 3d acceleration : boot the kernel with noapic and nolapic

Tip for the resolution : during install, choose Vendor ATI "Radeon fglrx", screen "1680x1050" and resolution "1680x1050"

Screen resolution works and also Wireless Lan, but I still not tried to find a solution for the battery (it works and charges but no status)

For the 3d acceleration, a solution is to use the packages ati-xorg, dkms-ati and kernel-source After installation, reboot, the driver will be installed in the kernel and then run XFdrake and choose again Radeon fglrx with 3d acceleration...
